How the service works

Rankathlon is a ranking game based mainly on challenges of precision, memory and timing.

Creating an account gives you a profile and access to one free trial game.

A profile becomes officially activated on the first purchase of Rank Credits. Its website may then be displayed publicly with an outbound link, a click counter, a detailed presentation and access to the official rankings.

This activation remains acquired for as long as the profile exists and complies with these terms.

Participants in the “Cancer Fighters” category take part in their own name and not on behalf of a company.

Rank Credits and Rank Boost

Rank Credits are internal credits purchased on Rankathlon.

They are used in particular to start games, and can be converted into Rank Boost, which adds points to the general ranking.

Rank Credits and Rank Boost:

• are not a currency;
• cannot be converted into money;
• cannot be withdrawn;
• cannot be resold or transferred between users;
• have no value outside Rankathlon.

Purchased Rank Credits do not expire for as long as the service remains available.

Rank Boost already acquired is not removed retroactively if prices or scales change later.

Rankings

The general ranking may combine:

• points earned through the player’s performance;
• Rank Boost acquired with Rank Credits.

These two components are shown separately wherever a score is displayed.

Rankathlon also publishes a “Skill” ranking, based solely on game performance, in which purchased Rank Boost is not counted.

A high rank is not a certification, a label, or a guarantee of quality, reputation, reliability or commercial performance.

Although it is technically a directory whose links are published as “DoFollow”, Rankathlon guarantees no traffic, search ranking, number of clicks, ranking position or commercial result.

No financial winnings

Rankathlon distributes no cash prize, pot or money-convertible prize to players.

Game results are determined from the actions performed by players. Official scores are calculated or verified by Rankathlon’s servers.

No draw awards any prize or ranking position.

Rankathlon is not designed as a gambling or game-of-chance service within the meaning of Articles L. 320-1 et seq. of the French Internal Security Code.

Purchase and payment

Prices and the corresponding number of Rank Credits are shown before payment.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Rankathlon neither stores nor retains card details.

Rank Credits are credited once payment is confirmed.

An invoice is made available for every successful payment.

Rankathlon currently benefits from the French VAT exemption for small businesses. Invoices are issued in accordance with the tax regime applicable on their issue date.

Right of withdrawal

When acting as a consumer, the user benefits from the right of withdrawal provided by the French Consumer Code.

Where the user asks to use the purchased services immediately, before the withdrawal period expires, Rankathlon collects that express request.

If withdrawal occurs after performance has begun at the user’s request, the amount corresponding to the service actually supplied remains payable under the conditions provided by law.

Once the contract has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal may lapse where the legal conditions for that lapse are met.

Withdrawal requires no particular formality. A request sent to contact@rankathlon.com within the statutory period is enough; no specific form is required.

The request may also be sent by post to: Cédric GIRARD, 10 rue Roger Douine, 10000 Troyes, France. Exercising the right of withdrawal does not require registered post.

Apart from the right of withdrawal, the legal guarantee, an error by Rankathlon or any contrary legal provision, services already consumed and Rank Credits already used are not refundable.

Game integrity

Official scores are verified server-side.

The following are prohibited in particular:

• bots and automated tools;
• falsifying the data of a game;
• deliberately tampering with the browser or with communications to the server;
• deliberately exploiting a flaw to gain an abnormal advantage.

Rankathlon may hold, invalidate or remove any score showing serious signs of fraud.

Fraud, or a serious or repeated breach of these terms, may lead to suspension or deletion of the account.

Removing a fraudulently obtained score does not entitle the user to a refund of the credits used to play that game.

Profiles and content

The user warrants that they have the right to use the names, trade marks, logos, images, descriptions, presentation texts and website addresses they publish.

Unlawful, infringing, insulting, defamatory, hateful, misleading content, or content infringing a third party’s rights, is prohibited.

Rankathlon may hide or remove content that breaches these rules and, in the event of a serious or repeated breach, suspend or delete the profile concerned.

Outbound links

Activating a profile may allow a link to the website declared by the user to be displayed.

The detailed presentation of an activated profile may also contain links to third-party websites.

These links are published as “DoFollow”. Rankathlon reserves the right to change that attribute, in particular to comply with search engine guidelines.

In any event, Rankathlon guarantees no search ranking benefit, no traffic and no commercial result from these links.

Contribution to the fight against cancer

Rankathlon is a commercial business, not a fundraising organisation.

Buying Rank Credits is the purchase of a service, not a donation made by the user. No donation tax receipt is issued to the buyer.

Rankathlon allocates:

• 20% of eligible commercial revenue to the fight against cancer;
• 50% of eligible revenue from Cancer Fighters to the fight against cancer.

The 50% rate applying to Cancer Fighters replaces the general 20% rate; it is not added to it.

These percentages are calculated on the amounts actually received by Rankathlon, excluding tax where tax applies, after deducting refunds, cancellations and chargebacks.

Stripe fees and other operating costs are not deducted from that calculation base.

Beneficiaries and completed transfers are presented on the “Our impact” page.

Rankathlon collects payments on its own account and then makes the announced transfers separately. Rankathlon does not act on behalf of the beneficiary organisations.

Changes and availability

Rankathlon may change its features, categories, game rules, prices and scales.

Changes to scales do not apply retroactively to points already acquired.

Rankathlon does not guarantee permanent availability of the service and may carry out maintenance or discontinue certain features.

Should the service be discontinued permanently, Rank Credits paid for and still unused will be handled in accordance with the applicable legal obligations.

Intellectual property and personal data

Rankathlon and its original elements are protected by applicable intellectual property rules.

Trade marks and logos published by users remain the property of their owners.

The processing of personal data is described in Rankathlon’s privacy policy.

Mediation and disputes

For any complaint: contact@rankathlon.com.

After first complaining to Rankathlon, a consumer may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer ombudsman.

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving a consumer of any more protective mandatory provisions that may apply to them.

Changes to these terms

Rankathlon may amend these terms to reflect changes in the service or in regulations.

Rights definitively acquired on a purchase are not removed retroactively by a later amendment to these terms.
